Ron Alston, from Virginia, USA, recently started carrying out a ritual with his three-year-old daughter Aliya every morning. They look into a mirror and say the following: "I am strong. I am smart. I work hard. I am beautiful. I am respectful. I’m not better than anyone. Nobody’s better than me. I am amazing. I am great." We’re certain that if all of us followed their example each day, we’d realize that every morning can be a happy one. Although very simple, Ron believes this ritual is a very effective method for helping his daughter grow into a happy and self-confident person. The video of this father and daughter performing their positive ritual has already been watched by 14 million Facebook users. Many of them — mostly parents — have thanked Ron for providing a great example of how to help build up a child’s self-esteem. Ron says that his father performed the same ritual with him when he was a child, and it greatly helped him cope with life’s challenges. It doesn’t take long, but it can change anyone’s life for the better. Ron commented, "It’s very important for children to grow up confident in themselves, to be modest and have a sense of their own worth. The world can be a tough place for them, but each one should know that he or she is unique and amazing."
